The area and the town of Colle Val d'Elsa have a long and illustrious history. They were once home to the Etruscans and later an important stop on the Francigena route, the main artery connecting all northern Europe to Rome during the Middle Ages.
For this reason there are several beautiful and almost forgotten Medieval Churches well worth visiting.

During the day, you will visit the small town of Colle val d’Elsa that has a rich history. Colle played a leading role in the politics of Tuscany, was the birthplace of many artists such as Arnolfo di Cambio, and is a unique example of urban architecture. It is now a world famous producer of cut crystal.

Nearby you will visit the beautiful church of the Ex-pieve dei Santi Ippoliti e Cassiano a Conèo (maybe 972). Then, naturally you will enjoy a light Tuscan lunch in a typical "Trattoria" of a small village in the region, and after lunch you'll visit the church San Giovanni Battista a Mensano - built around 1011. The program also includes a visit to the breathtaking gothic church of S. Galgano (around 1182), maybe well known but not for this less exciting.
